The million dollar question is how old something must be before it becomes unclaimed property. So this ship is about 200 years old. Would it still be Spain’s property if it was double that? How about countries that no longer exist, like the Roman Empire? Can Italy claim Roman art? Update the question even more; should purchasers of stolen Nazi art return it to a random Jewish art dealer or the state of Israel?
